The Kremlin Doesn’t Understand that Russia Is at War
As Gilbert Doctorow and I have pointed out, Putin sat on his butt for so long refusing to treat the Ukraine conflict as war that the situation has left his control. Putin is yet to understand the battleground is no longer in Donbas and has shifted into Russia herself. German drones and US targeting have reduced Russian fuel supplies, causing shortages, and drone attacks on civilians have made life in Crimea and the Kherson oblast dangerous and uncertain. The Kremlin continues to deceive itself by calling the crippling attacks “terrorist events.”
