The Future of this Website Is in the Hands of the Readers

Paul Craig Roberts

September has arrived, and with it my quarterly request for readers support of the site.

Telling the truth, or trying to do so, is not a profession from which a person can make a living.

Most people don’t want to hear the truth, because it is at odds with their indoctrination and preconceived beliefs.  Truth makes most people uncomfortable.

To tell the truth is expensive.  The real facts are hidden. And a truth-teller is never welcomed in the circles that determine professional success.

Over the course of my lifetime I have watched respect for truth decline. It has declined in politics, media, medicine, education, scholarship, professional societies, and everywhere one looks.

Indeed, today in the “Free West” truth-telling is being criminalized.  The criminalization of truth has reached an advanced stage in Britain.  In America truth-telling was being turned into a criminal act under the George W. Bush, Obama, and Biden regimes.  The fate of truth remains to be seen in the 2nd Trump regime.

Truth-telling does me no good.  I do not benefit from it.  For the worth of my efforts I rely on the extent of public support.

This leaves it up to readers whether the website continues.
