More evidence that Israel’s exemption from criticism is running out
Human rights pioneer Navanethem Pillay, 85, was awarded this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. The South African led the UN commission that determined Israel committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, a finding Israel has rejected. “The system of international law is under tremendous pressure, and its institutions are under attack,” Jørgen Watne Frydnes, chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, said in Oslo. “We see a shift towards power politics at the expense of legal frameworks and global respect for law and justice.”
