Governor of Pennsylvania Falsely Reports Measles Deaths
Josh Shapiro, the Jewish governor of Pennsylvania, suspected by some as while attorney general of covering up a murder by a supporter’s son, has apparently falsely declared measles death in Pennsylvania, possibly in an effort to ingratiate himself with an eye on campaign contributions with the pharmaceutical industry. 1. Pennsylvania Measles Outbreak And Governor Shapiro’s Political Response
Pennsylvania recorded 393 confirmed measles cases this year, the highest count since 1992, with nearly 20 percent of those cases resulting in hospitalization, and the Pennsylvania Department of Health announced the first two measles-associated deaths in the state in 35 years.
Governor Josh Shapiro held a press conference attributing the deaths to unvaccinated individuals, repeatedly referencing Lancaster County, home to the largest Amish settlement in America, in a manner Lancaster County officials and the Lancaster County coroner rejected, with the coroner reporting zero measles deaths in the county.
Lancaster County Commissioner Josh Parsons publicly disputed Shapiro’s claims, the CDC attempted to obtain death data from the governor’s office, and Shapiro’s office refused to cooperate with both local officials and the CDC, with local officials stating they were denied the information even before Shapiro’s press conference took place.
Former DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin characterized Shapiro’s actions as a political tactic of weaponizing public health narratives against targeted groups, drew parallels to COVID-era misattribution of deaths, and argued Shapiro is using the measles outbreak to elevate his profile ahead of a potential 2028 presidential campaign on a pro-vaccine, pro-pharmaceutical platform.
