Trump Backs Down from His Boasting and Blustering about Iran’s Defeat
Paul Craig Roberts
It seems only a few hours ago that Trump was boasting that Iran to save itself from annihilation was anxious to make a deal at the renewing of negotiations in Pakistan. This puzzled many as Iran itself had announced that it wasn’t going to any negotiation and would not negotiate with Trump’s two Jewish real estate developers or US VP Vance.
When Trump realized that no Iranians were going to appear, he quickly declared that he held all the cards and said negotiations could await Iran’s acceptance of his terms. For Trump, that is what negotiation is. You accept his terms or get bombed into the stone age.
However, it seems that it is the US presence in the Middle East, now called West Asia, and Israel that will be bombed into the stone age if the conflict renews.
For the Iranians negotiations are pointless. The source of the violence in the Middle East is Israel’s Zionist policy of Greater Israel. Maps held up before TV audiences by Israeli Prime Ministers show the extraordinary expanse of Greater Israel–Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, parts of Egypt, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Turkey, which was recently added to Israel’s claim by former Israeli prime minister Bennett. Some of the maps are shown here at the 9 minute mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5e08r6O0dk
For reasons I cannot explain, the entire Arab/Muslim world has never made an issue of Greater Israel, despite its enormous propaganda value. I suppose the Arab governments, as corrupt as they are, are all bought by Israeli-America. Iran has been content with the Israeli-American propaganda that Iran is the threat, not Greater Israel. This Iranian stupidity has allowed Trump/Netanyahu to paint Iran as the threat. But it is not Iran than is claiming ownership to the Middle East.
Iran is the offended nation, the nation repeatedly attacked by Israeli-America. What is wrong with the Iranian leadership that they permit themselves to be presented as the Threat instead of the Victim? Why is the issue Iran’s right to enrich uranium instead of Iran’s right to exist?
At this time based on current information that might be believable, my view is that Iran holds more cards than Trump, and that Trump wants out and cannot intimidate Iran to give him a free exit. If trump recognizes that he was deceived by Netanyahu about Iran’s weakness and has been made a fool by the Israel Lobby, will the American president remember that he is supposed to represent the American electorate, not Netanyahu’s ambitions of greater Israel, and leave Israel’s fate to the Muslims?
For the first quarter of the 21st century Americans have been fighting wars for greater Israel at the cost of American dead and wounded, at the cost of $10 trillion or one quarter of US national debt, of American deaths of fathers, sons, husbands, daughters, sisters, mothers, wives, and at the cost of America’s reputation. Yet the American President still worships and serves Israel.
Who represents Americans?
Can we get a president of America?
