Oysters Are an Important Environmental Resource
If you like them on the half shell or in Thanksgiving dressing, read this:
I recently met the man who directed this documentary about the loss in the past 30 years of 90% of the oyster reefs, which not only provide us with delicious oysters on the half shell but also prevent shoreline erosion, cleanse the water, and reduce red tide and algae blooms.
In America everything is blamed on climate change. This one factor explanation can blind us to remedies at hand. The documentary shows that better management of rivers and freshwater flow and coastal development and curtailment of the use of rivers and oceans as septic tanks for toxic pollution would allow the rebuilding of oyster reefs and shorelines.
If you have a chance to watch the documentary, use it. You will learn that the one track global warming narrative is blocking our ability to deal with resolvable problems.
